Good News For Delhi-NCR Commuters! Four New Metro Corridors Coming Soon! Check Routes And Key Details

Good News! The 13-km-long corridor of the RRTS between New Ashok Nagar in Delhi and Sahibabad in U.P. is complete. People will be able to access the route in the coming days, the officials said.

Significant steps are being taken to enhance metro connectivity across Delhi-NCR. This includes the construction of four new metro corridors connecting Noida, Delhi, and Sonipat, as per reports. These corridors are part of the phase-5 metro expansion plan. The new routes will connect:

  1. Tughlakabad To Noida Sector-142 (15 km)
  2. Kundli To Sonipat (20 km)
  3. Samaypur Badli To Kundli (15 km)
  4. New Delhi To New Ashok Nagar (13 km).

Meanwhile, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has already issued a tender for geotechnical investigation. The detailed project report (DPR) of the corridor will reportedly begin following this. These projects, in their early stages now, would enhance the connectivity of the metro and provide relief to commuters between Noida, Sonipat, and Delhi once finished.

The inauguration of the Delhi section of the RRTS was initially slated for Sunday by PM Modi. However, It was postponed following the death of former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh on Thursday (December 26, 2024). The section is scheduled to be inaugurated during the first week of January. Construction is underway in the other three corridors.

Once the corridor from Samaypur Badli-Kundli-Sonipat is constructed, commuters can directly travel to Sonipat from Gurugram. Additionally, the 15 km corridor from Tughlakabad to Noida Sector-142 will allow passengers to travel to other areas as well like Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) Airport.

The construction work is currently underway for the 65-km-long three major corridors under Delhi Metro Phase-4, approved in 2019.

The routes are:

Aerocity-Tughlakabad

RK Ashram Marg-Janakpuri West

Majlis Park-Maujpur

These corridors are being developed at the cost of 24,950 crores and are estimated to be completed by 2026, reports stated.
