Through its operations the new corridor will enable direct travel between Greater Noida and Magenta Line stations of Delhi Metro that leads to the airport at Indira Gandhi Terminal 1 Airport and the Blue Line stations.

NMRC announced its plan to begin building the 11.56km Botanical Garden to Sector 142 Metro link after the central government grants its final approval which is anticipated shortly.

The NMRC will initiate work on two Metro expansion schemes: 11.56km Botanical Garden to Sector 142 link, and a 5km link from Noida’s Sector 51 to Greater Noida West’s Knowledge Park-5.

The current 29.7km Aqua Line of Noida Metro does not have a direct route to Delhi Metro. At present the Blue Line service cannot offer effective transit but the expected 11.56km link will serve to connect regions by giving improved access to Delhi alongside better transportation links to Jewar Noida International Airport.

The topographical survey procedures are going on to evaluate how the Metro route affects the present existence of residential areas as well as markets and tall buildings. The research assessment will complete alignment decisions and determine necessary adjustments to avoid future problems.

The necessary first step of topographical research will identify the most effective path and help overcome challenges in the way. The survey efforts will finish shortly before central government authorities approve the DPR and arrange project funding,” stated by an official from NMRC, as reported by Hindustan Times.

The project was first approved during NMRC’s 38th board meeting held in December, 2023, said officials. And an estimated cost of ₹2,254.35 crore has been approved for the project.

Through its operations the new corridor will enable direct travel between Greater Noida and Magenta Line stations of Delhi Metro that leads to the airport at Indira Gandhi Terminal 1 Airport and the Blue Line stations.

Enhanced Connectivity To Key Metro Corridors

The Botanical Garden station currently serves NCR (National Capital Region) as its initial metro interchange point which connects the Blue Line from Noida City Centre to Dwarka Sector 21 with the Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden route. The new 11.56km route described in the DPR includes eight stations across its length.
