On Friday, Special Judge MK Nagpal of Rouse Avenue Court refused Sisodia bail, adding that the evidence “speaks volumes” of his involvement in the commission of the felony. The judge also stated that Sisodia’s wife’s alleged medical condition was not a justification to grant him bail in this case. Furthermore, he stated that it was impossible to rule out the possibility of Sisodia influencing key witnesses in the case.

The court had previously stated that the alleged violation against Sisodia was a “serious economic offence of money laundering” and that he had not been accused of committing the offence in his personal capacity, but rather in his official function as a public servant heading the excise ministry.

The ED had previously told the judge that Sisodia had inserted forged emails to prove that the proposal had widespread support. The investigating agency also stated that the 60-day deadline for concluding the investigation into Sisodia had not yet expired.
