Chennai: Assistant Professor Suspended Over Controversial Remarks On Operation Sindoor; Netizens Label Her Comments ‘Anti-India’

Chennai: An assistant professor from a private university near Chennai was reportedly suspended on Thursday for posting a controversial social media message. In the message, she criticised India’s recent attack against Pakistan – Operation Sindoor, targeting terror camps, and expressed concerns over civilian casualties there. The teacher, S Lora, came under fire by the university as well as drew backlash on her ‘anti-india’ messages. A statement by the university on Thursday afternoon read that for engaging in ‘unethical activities’, she is placed under suspension with immediate effect, pending an enquiry.

Assistant Professor Suspended Over Controversial Social Media Post

Several screenshots shared from a handle called “Verbal” were deemed as ‘anti-India’, ‘insensitive’ and ‘unpatriotic’ by social media users. In one of the messages, she stated, “India killed a CHILD in Pakistan and wounded two people in the early Wednesday strikes. Killing innocent lives for your own bloodlust and for your election stunts is not BRAVERY and it’s not JUSTICE. It’s a cowardice act!” According to Teacher S Lora’s profile on the website, she has been the recipient of the Best Teacher Award in 2016. Additionally, she has also been awarded the Indira Gandhi Teaching Excellence Award in 2017. At present, she is pursuing her doctoral research in Irish Mythology.

After her post went viral, many social media users called for strict action against the professor for her critical remarks. They even tagged the University, demanding an explanation on the same.
