Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited the homes of four brave soldiers who died while serving the country in Jammu and Kashmir on April 20 and handed over a check of Rs one crore each as financial assistance to their families.

Chief Minister visited the ancestral homes of these martyrs, including Havildar Mandeep Singh village in Chankoyia Kakan district Ludhiana, Lance Naik Kulwant Singh village Chadik district Moga, Sepoy Harkishan Singh village Talwandi Bharath district Gurdaspur and Sepoy Sewak Singh village Bagha district Bathinda.

During his visit, Bhagwant Maan expressed his heartfelt condolences to the members of these families and prayed to God to place the departed souls at his holy feet. Handing over a check of Rs one crore each to the families in recognition of the great sacrifices made by these heroes for the country, the Chief Minister said that the entire country was indebted to these martyrs, who laid down their lives for the country.

Reiterating the firm commitment of the State Government to help the families of the soldiers who laid down their lives for the defense of the country, the Chief Minister said that it was the duty of the State Government to ensure the welfare of the families of the soldiers. Bhagwant Mann said that under this commitment of the state government for the welfare of the soldiers and their families, financial assistance has been given to the martyrs.

Ashaji recalls Kaanta laga as an upbeat folk dance number  composed by Rahul Dev Burman. “It was peppy and catchy. We were all humming the  song when shooting it. But did I think it would become such a rage in retrospect? No! Success on that level cannot be predicted by anyone. I remember the song Maar diya jaye ke chhor diya jaye in my film Mera Gaon Mera Desh. That too became such craze, although Lataji’s other  songs  in the film were also outstanding.”
