Out of the 216 bogies, 126 coaches, including 21 six-coach trains will run on Purple and Green lines, while 90 coaches with 15 six-coach trains will serve the Yellow Line.

The remaining 20 six-coach DTG trains will be built by CRRC’s partner TRSL at West Bengal’s Uttarpara facility. The first DTG train from TRSL for the Yellow line is expected by January 15, 2025, and the second train in February. According to BMRCL officials, the remaining 34 trainsets (14 CBTC and 20 DTG) are being manufactured in India. The Yellow Line’s operations, originally expected to start by 2021, were delayed due to Covid-19, FDI norms, and trade restrictions with China, reports added.
