LIC Offices To Remain Open On Saturday, Sunday And Eid: Here’s Why

In addition to LIC's regular working hours, financial institutions across the country will also remain operational today, March 29. Customers can avail the bank services today without any difficulty.

To ensure that the policyholders do not face any inconvenience during the last days of March, the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on Friday said that its offices will remain open on weekends. This includes Saturday (March 29), Sunday (March 30), and Monday (March 31). Though Monday is a public holiday due to the Eid celebrations, LIC offices will continue to remain operational.

Reason Behind This Decision

Policyholders can deposit their premiums during these three consecutive days. One of the obvious reasons behind this decision is that 31st March is the final day of the financial year 2024-25. Therefore, it involves the important process of account closures on this day. The decision aligns with the consultation issued by the IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India) on the 12th of March, 2025.

Banks To Remain Open Today

In addition to LIC’s regular working hours, financial institutions across the country will also remain operational today, March 29. Customers can avail the bank services today without any difficulty. The decision is per the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the state governments, which decide the bank holidays.

Here’s Why

Banks usually remain closed on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month. While the second and fourth Saturdays are non-working days, the fifth Saturday is a working day for most banks. This time it falls on the 29th of March. Both LIC and banks are making efforts to ensure smooth flow of services during this time.
