Infosys Firing: More Trainees Let Go From Mysuru Campus, But A Surprise Offer Softens The Blow – What Is It?

According to the report, Infosys will arrange transport from Mysuru to Bengaluru for trainees who do not want to opt for the BPM course.

Infosys Firing: Tech giant Infosys has reportedly fired another 30–45 trainees from its Mysuru campus. According to a report of ‘Moneycontrol’, these trainees were terminated after they failed to pass internal assessments.

However, this time around, the company took a different approach. Infosys offered the affected trainees alternative career paths. The company provided 12 weeks of training for potential roles in Infosys Business Process Management (BPM) to these trainees. Furthermore, the company offered a one-month ex-gratia payment and a relieving letter to all the affected individuals.

The company will also sponsor the training for those who do not opt for the BPM course, said the report. Furthermore, Infosys informed the affected trainees who didn’t pass the internal assessment via email. The company told them that they hadn’t met the required standards in the “Foundation Skills Training Program“, despite being given extra preparation time, doubt-clearing sessions, and multiple mock assessment opportunities.

Notably, Infosys had terminated hundreds of trainees from the same campus, just a couple of months earlier.

Infosys Firing: What Else For Affected Trainees?

According to the report, the company will arrange transport from Mysuru to Bengaluru for trainees who do not want to opt for the BPM course. Moreover, Infosys will offer a standard travel allowance and accommodation to the affected trainees, at the Employee Care Centre in Mysuru, until their departure date. Accordingly, the company has asked the affected trainees to provide their travel and accommodation preferences by March 27.

Notably, the employees that were terminated earlier, accused the company of forcefully firing them. However, the Karnataka Labour Department found no violations of labour laws in connection with the termination of the trainees.

After the controversy broke, Infosys issued a clarification, saying that the assessment policy is not new. The company said that according to the policy, new recruits undergo foundational training at the Mysuru campus and must pass an internal assessment to continue their employment.
