New Delhi: The data issued by the commerce ministry on Friday shows that India’s exports increased by 4.82 percent to $35.45 billion in September despite a widening trade deficit of $25.71 billion.

The ministry reported in its preliminary data, which was made public in the first week of this month, that the nation’s merchandise exports decreased by 3.52% to $32.62 billion in September.

The amount of imports during the reviewed month rose by 8.66% to $61.61 billion. In September 2021, there was a $22.47 billion trade imbalance.

Exports increased by 16.96 billion to $231.88 billion between April and September 2022. The trade deficit increased to $148.46 billion from $76.25 billion in September 2021 as imports increased by 38.55 percent to $380.34 billion.
