Toyota Fortuner And Legender Upgraded! New Variants, Hybrid Options And Features Revealed

Toyota has added new variants to the Fortuner and Fortuner Legender with a mild-hybrid Diesel Powertrain that starts from Rs 44.72 lakh ex Showroom. Along with the new updated engine, the Japanese carmaker also ensured that certain features are revised; here’s all you need to know about the updated Fortuner.

What All Has Changed

The change has been executed to ensure that the car gets much more fuel efficient. With the all new mild-Hybrid version, Toyota claims that the updated powertrain would offer improved fuel efficiency. The 48 Volt system combined with the popular 2.8 litre diesel unit would ensure improved fuel efficiency.  The car would be able to churn out better low end torque and lower emissions.  Beyond this, the new Toyota Fortuner has been equipped with all new traction and dive modes especially for off road conditions; The Neo Drive Assist feature provides enhanced acceleration when you need a little bit of extra Torque.

While Toyota is offering the new Mild-Hybrid version, the existing Non-Hybrid version and petrol options will also continue to be on sale. The Diesel Engine generates 204 Ps and 500 Nm of torque while the 2.7 Na petrol unit makes 166 PS and 245 Nm of peak torque. Both engines have manual and automatic options. 

New Features 

The new updated Fortuner would now come with an idle start stop feature. these would help the vehicles emissions, Beyond these features the car would also get a 360-Degree camera along with a wireless phone charger for a seamless charging experience.

Toyota has gone ahead and removed the ventilated front seats, and the reason for this has not been revealed. A small battery pack would be installed below the car’s seats. These features would only be available in the Neo drive variants. 

In a recent update it was revealed that the government has directed significant support for Hybrid Technology in state used vehicles and cars. These are vehicles that are generally used for driving government officials around. A report by an Autocar professional revealed that governments have asked all state used vehicles to be equipped with Hybrid Tech. The report further detailed how Manufacturers have opposed the move. And profess that EV’s could have been a better choice as they emit zero emissions. Considering the ongoing tussle and the fact that the Fortuner is actively used in duty, it is hard to ignore the chronology of  Toyota equipping their SUV that is known for being efficient with hybrid Tech.
