Triumph’s new Speed triple 1200 RS is a premium naked street fighter bike that is equipped with 1160CC engine. The Engine helps the bike achieve numbers like 180.5 Bhp @ 10,750 RPM and 94.5 lb,ft Torque at 87500 RPM. The bike has received a minor tweak in the performance as update recently, but the most formidable change would have to be the Wheelie Control System feature. A built in feature, that allows the bike to achieve a controlled lift of the front wheel without the risk of looping the bike over above the rider.
The bike has been given a back-lit switchgear and a Five -Inch Colour TFT display. While the feature could be a hazard it has been focused on riders who know their way around such a powerful machine. The Feature allows the riders to pop wheelies while trying to go faster along the straights.
The Wheelie Feature
The feature offers four stages of lift- With level 1 the bike would allow the front wheels to rise just a little over the ground allowing the bike with maximum front drive, the successive levels would further allow the bike to raise the lift of the front wheel. The feature uses a number of data points to maintain a controlled precision wheelie while powering out of corners.
Th rider would have full control over the feature and would be able to modulate the throttle to control the wheelie, As per the official statement by Triumph- a user can stretch the throttle and continue to shift up smoothly to continue the wheelie- the rider would not need to ping the clutch or touch the rear brake- the onboard algorithm would do the hard work for you.
As per Triumph the feature continually measures and analyses 20 parameters with a frequency of updates being a 100 times a second, the accrued information allows the bike to combine the settings and help it modulate throttle and power delivery accordingly.
The Sensors That Help The Bike Attain The Feat
The Six Axis IMU- is of essential importance for the functioning of the feature. The IMU continually measures the bikes Pitch, Roll and Yaw and reports the angle of the bike at all times to help it achieve the perfect wheelies. Beyond these parameters the sensors also calculate throttle position and ensure that the correct amount of power is provided to maintain the right degree of lift.
To keep the wheelie smooth the system does not use brakes rather it manipulates the power to ensure the lift thanks to throttle valves. The appropriate power is sent to the wheels and changes are made 100 times a second. Triumph has taken care of all elements necessary for a lift as the bike also continually calculates the air drag to ensure the best lift angle. Although it would be fair to say, that no feature can ever surpass the inherent capabilities of skills. Superbikes Could be dangerous if you have limited riding skills before using such features on bikes such as the speed triple you should start off with a smaller bike and move ahead gradually. And only use such features if available once you are a pro.
