New Delhi: Royal Enfield is working on a new range of 650cc motorcycles for both the Indian and global markets. The company’s new 650cc Scrambler was first spotted testing in the country. The new Scrambler was earlier spotted testing on foreign soil. RE made some changes to the bodywork; however, the basic structure remains the same.

The 648cc parallel-twin Royal Enfield Scrambler was recently caught testing in the UK. The one spied in India comes with some notable differences from the last one. The bike has a conventional side panel in the shape of an inverted triangle, which looks similar to the Interceptor 650. The previous model had a large oval section on the side panels.

There is a small wind mesh in the front for protection from the wind that was missing before. This could be offered as an accessory. The front of the light includes a section that is painted red, suggesting that RE might be offering additional lights as part of its official accessories catalog.

Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 Features

Apart from these two major changes, the rest of the bike remained largely unchanged. The bike features a 2-into-1 exhaust system, which will be a first for the RE 650 range.

The RE Scrambler 650cc rides on off-road sized wire-spoke alloy wheels, with the front wheel appearing larger than the rear. It will come standard with an upside-down front fork.

The new Scrambler will be powered by a 650cc twin-cylinder engine that produces 47bhp and 52Nm of torque. Royal Enfield is expected to tune this engine to suit the needs of a cruiser bike. For braking, the bikes get standard disc brakes at both ends and dual-channel ABS. The new bikes will feature a semi-digital instrument cluster, a slipper clutch with Assist and a Tripper navigation system.
