Renault India has been planning to emerge from their current state of stupor and revamp their lineup in recently. The brand has been selling the Kwid, Triber, and Kiger until now, but soon it seems that the brand will be incorporating a new Duster and a EV hatchback that has been seen testing a few times.
The spotted vehicle is being dubbed as the new Kwid EV, which has been spotted testing ever since 2024. Last time we saw a Kwid EV being tested, it was on the back of a flat bed, but this time around a new spotting that has been reported by Rushlane witnessed the vehicle rolling out.
The vehicle was spotted somewhere in Tamil Nadu going by the temporary number plates that was on the vehicle, Nissan and Renault operate from Tamil Nadu. The Renault Kwid looks similar to that of the Dacia Spring EV that is on sale in the global markets.
Even if the Dacia spring is badge-engineered and sold off as the Kwid in India it would be powered by the same 26.8 kWh battery pack promising 220 km on a single charge or it could come up with an Indian version of the same vehicle with localized components for a cost effective price.
The Kwid would possibly be an EV vehicle now, the spotted vehicle at the Chennai airport was also an EV. It was in August last year when the vehicle was spotted for the first time. This time around, the vehicle was wrapped in slightly less camouflage revealing the tail lights and other additions, included a rear wiper and steel wheels.

The new Kwid EV made its global debut as the Dacia Spring, the Dacia was spotted testing last time around. It is probable that the Spring would be rebadged as a Renault when it goes on sale in India. In the international markets the Kwid or the Spring is offered with a slew of battery and EV powertrain variants. The base variant has a 44BHP electric motor, while the higher end variants have a 64 BHP Unit.

Dacia Spring The Next Possible Kwid
Its possible that the Dacia Spring might be launched as the latest iteration of the Renault kwid in India. In the international markets the Dacia spring is offered in a 65HP as well as a 45HP version. The 65 HP version would have a 140 mile range and a charging time to reach from 20% to 80% in Just 45 minutes, this version is able to produce a max out put of 48KW.

The 45 HP version has a range of 140 miles with 33KW max power and charges from 20% to a 100% in less than 5 hours. Both the vehicles would have V2l technologies as well. Its possible that the KWID might be launched as a ICE variant as well as a EV version. The previous ICE version had reaped a significant amount of sales in the hatchback segment, going by their experiences Renault might launch a conventional ICE variant of the vehicle yet again.
