Nissan was once a formidable force in India, the brand gained rising popularity thanks to its extensive portfolio ranging from the hatchback Micra all the way to Nissan X-trail. But in the last few years the brand has witnessed extensive financial doldrums and challenges that led to its portfolio shrinkage in India. But the brand now seems to be planning its resurgence and the road map for such a comeback was recently shared by Top Nissan Officials in an Interview.
In a recent interview with the auto car professional Frank Torres, Divisional Vice President of AMIEO Region Business Transformation & President of Nissan India Operations, revealed
Nissan Xtrail To Make Comeback
The Imported CBU X-trail would most probably work as a HALO model for the brand to market their resurgence in the Indian market again. This resurgence would also include the launch of a new MPV that would most probably be based on the Renault Triber. The brand further shared with Auto Car Professional that they would be planning to expand beyond the target of achieving 160 outlets by the end of the year.
In the interview, Torres further revealed that although the market would have been able to raise concerns regarding our dwindling share in India three of four years back, however today we have invested Euro 700 million and are delivering what we promise, there is no chance, that Nissan would exit India. Nissan Has already shared plans to bring in an MPV, added a new CBU import X-trail.
Launches Planned by Nissan
In a Previous press release Nissan Had Revaled new plans to strengthen its overall presence in the Dynamic Indian Market, the plans would be directed towards a two -fold goal which would be improving the performance and expanding the overall exports from the nation. Over the next two years the manufacturer would be launching new innovative models to upkeep and further increase their grasp in the Indian Market.
As per Nissan the MPV as well as the compact SUV that the manufacturer plans to launch would be produced in the chennai plant. Nissan would be planning to follow the one car, one world strategy that would be aimed at supporting domestic sales as well as world-class exports. Its possible that Nissan would manufacture in India and would further export overseas.
Nissan has further shared that it would be working towards the goal of reaching about 100,000 units in annual Domestic sales and exports from the nation.
