KIA’s 3 Cylinder Turbo Or Suzuki’s 1.2- 4 Cylinder Engine- Which Option Should You Choose?

The changing dynamics of the Indian Automotive market has brought the manufacturers to a junction where they have both a 1.2- 4 cylinder engine as well as 1000cc 3 cylinder engine. The users have choices to choose amongst them but one of the biggest challenges that users have been witnessing is , whether they should choose a 4 cylinder unit or go for a vehicle that offers 3 cylinder engine along with a Turbo. 

Why Manufacturers are deviating Towards A 3 cylinder Engine 

The Strict norms and the rising cost of production has led manufacturers to choose new engine layouts that would offer them better value. With a 3 cylinder engine it is easier to shoehorn along with a transmission in front wheel drive cars leading to better revenue per unit. The age old problem of three cylinder engines being underpowered is being handled by adding a Turbo to the layout. But over time 3 cylinder engines often succumb to vibrations and shaking die to mechanical fatigue. 

A 4 cylinder engine is inherently balanced and its firing order ensures refinement as well as smoother power delivery. But with new emission changes manufacturers have been moving ahead with 3 cylinder engines worldwide and manufacturers like Toyota have been able to innovate and optimize the 3 cylinder layout in such a manner that it exudes exceptional power out put as seen in the Toyota Gr Yaris. 

Better Choice For Indians

While with the moving times all hatchbacks and entry level models would soon be powered by a a 3 cylinder engine users still have a chance of opting for better refined and balanced 4 cylinder engines in these cars. Often the 3 cylinder Turbo engines are added as an option in higher end variants so if you are going in for the lower or mid variants you have no choice, But if you are opting for higher end variants there is still a quotient of choice.

With the spread of variants detailed the users can now make a better choice amongst the spread of the vehicles.
