Apart from the much expected launch of the Cares Facelift KIA has also been planning the launch of the all new Syros EV. While the details of the EV powertrain are not clear yet, as it appears KIA would be using the Hyundai-KIA K1 platform. The same platform underpins the already selling Hyundai Inster EV that is sold internationally as well. The platform has been specially optimized for compact electric vehicles. KIA would be looking forward to localize the manufacturing of EV powertrain to ensure that the vehicle prices can further be reduced.
The Two battery options provided with the Inster are a 42 KWH and a 49 KWH pack, the 49KWH pack delivers a range of about 355 Km. Its being expected that the new Syros EV would use the same EV platform as that of the Inster EV. The Car would have a FWD layout that would make a perfect companion for easy maintenance.
Whether KIA would launch the Syros EV first or the Carens EV is still a mystery but upon its launch the car would rival the likes of Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400 and Tata Punch EV.
Features
The features spread would be similar to that of the current gen Syros, the car would most probably have similar features as that of the conventional Syros with a few more add on’s that are necessary for the EV variant.
