In a recent Post at their social media handle Kawasaki have hinted at a possible return of two stroke engines. The news has spread like a wild fire all across the enthusiast platforms. Other believe that the same platform can continue to power bikes that are sold allover the world.

Its possible that if a new engine is introduced it might have fuel injection or forced induction. Beyond that there have been news about how the Two Stroke engine could go through other changes as well that would have a camshaft and a necessary valve arrangement for the regulation of inlet and exhaust flow. But wouldn’t that take away from the patina of the old Two Stroke Engine?

Two Strokes In 2025 – A New Possibility

This could be a very ambitious plan for Kawasaki to bring in a new Two Stroke Engine with such changes. And beyond that ensuring that it easily conforms to the strict emission norms that have been stipulated all over the world. As per news reports its possible that the new product might be a completely new niche bike that would serve a very specific need. No sports or commuter bike with Two Stroke engine currently seems to be on the horizon. Kawasaki has remained tight lipped about the project and have not spoken about any details beyond the post that they have shared.

Its also possible that instead of the new model the manufacturer might bring in the KX250 back. The Model was last discontinued in 2008- this re launch could possibly bring back the two stroke engines in Kawasaki’s line up.

As per a report published by Motorcycle World the new Two Stroke could have significant mechanical improvements than the older two stroke engines. Older engines used to rely upon Port timing and pressure dynamics rather than valves. Older engines used to rely on scavenging to release burnt gasses from the opening of exhaust port. As such gasses are expelled new fresh air takes its place in the cylinder. Its possible that Kawasaki might upload more updates about the same in future.

Possibility In India

As of now no such bike is offered by a Kawasaki in India and the probability of a two stroke with the strict emission laws seems unlikely- Until and unless Kawasaki brings up an engine that emits very low emissions.
