Honda has high hopes for its EV scooter, the Activa E, as well as the QC1, building on the legacy they have been able to gather in the conventional Two-wheeler segment. Although the brand has its work cut out for itself as it would have to compete against the likes of TVS iQube and the OLA line of Bajaj Chetak EV.
To be able to take a step beyond their competitors Honda sought to launch the Scooters with a battery exchange network matrix , that could have eased the range anxiety down. The initial reaction that Honda has been able to receive from the initial phase of the program has led them to introduce more affordable Baas battery rental plans with the Activa-E. These have been pitched to boost its appeal considerably, let’s take a closer look.
Baas plans | Charges above Activa-e |
Lite Plan | Rs 676 |
Basic Plan | Rs 1,999 |
Advance Plan | Rs 3,599 |
One of the starkest disadvantages that the Scooter faced would be its incapacity to get charged from the normal wall charger, the battery swap is the only way to ensure that the scooter is capable of running. But initially the BAAS plan started at Rs 1,999 for up to 35 kWh per month in the basic plan and the advanced plan was available for a price of RS 3,599 for up to 82 KWH per month.
Gaining insights from their previous experience Honda has now priced the New Lite Plan at Rs 678 for up to 20KWh. Charges of these base plans would be included over the price of the scooter. The battery swapping stations would be managed by Honda Power Pack Energy India. To further add to the Activa E’s disadvantage the battery swapping capabilities leave behind negligible boot space, the scooter would be powered by 1.5 kwh removable battery packs and a mid mounted motor. The scooter would be able to offer a range of about 102 km Per full charge.
